St Mirren 2-2 Rangers: Scrappy Doo

Afternoon all, Rangers managed yet another draw and yet another game conceding twice. It's all become a bit samey at this stage.

The lineup was boring, Bailey Rice getting minutes is good, aside from that it felt like a waste of everyone's time. It makes you wonder what kind of message Barry is trying to send to the new owners when it comes to his viability as a member of the permanent coaching staff.

If we aren't trusting the youth with dead rubber games then what is the point anymore.

Our performance and the game was predictable. Scrappy, the theme of every game under the interim management team. I know that there was alot leftover from Clement in terms of the approach. But there has been no clear game plan in possession in the league apart from against Celtic at Celtic Park. Which is bizarre, it's like we are living in another dimension.

So there was little surprise when we created a few odd chances here and there while looking vulnerable at the back. Dessers blazed over while the flag stayed down. Kelly made a rare mistake with his feet and presented Mandron with a chance to put the Buddies in front but he blazed over.

My eyes glazed over for much of this game, so it caught me off guard when Dessers collected a pass from Raskin and turned well in the box before firing us one up. Celebrations from me were minimal.

Despite the fact there were only a few minutes left until half time, we contrived to throw away the lead ourselves as Mark O'Hara pounced on a loose ball to volley home superbly. It was yet another goal for O'Hara against the Old Firm, I can't think of another player with such a good career goal record against the top 2 in Scotland.

We regained the lead not long into the second half after a brilliant driving run and left-footed finish from Nico Raskin. It's hard to pick a clear player of the season cause we have been truly terrible, but Raskin is one of the few to be consistent and step up all season long.

The game fell into a lull after that, we didn't look like scoring a third and in reality it felt like if anyone was going to get a goal it was probably St Mirren.

That terrible future came to be as a ball across the 6 yard box was tapped home by a St Mirren forward.

2-2 at the final whistle and it was another flat performance with another flat result. Apathy from the supporters is understandably rife and the players seem to be emulating that.

We got treated to another rant from Barry "telling it like it is" by raging into the void about the level and character of player available to him. I'm not saying he's wrong, but I'm just sick of hearing the same thing over and over again.

This season can't finish soon enough. I don't even want to consider what kind of performance this depleted squad will trot out against Celtic next week.

Have a good week everyone, don't let the football get you down. Season is nearly over!
