Hello everyone, it's time for one of my famous emergency blogs. The last one was because Rangers had appointed Barry Ferguson as interim manager.
I'm very pleased to say that this one is for a much happier reason. The long rumoured takeover of Rangers Football Club by an American consortium has been completed. As announced by the club:
The consortium have penned an open letter to supporters. It hits the notes you'd expect, especially the promise of investing fresh capital into the club. Although they are quick to caveat this by saying it won't be about spending until they are successful, but a long term strategy.
Aside from that there's no major surprises in the letter, although they have affirmed their support for Patrick Stewart, which is interesting given his mixed time at the club so far.
We all know what the next big step is, the appointment of a new first team coach. The rumours are that Steven Gerrard turned down a chance to return to the club, so all the evidence points to Davide Ancelotti as the next man to take the reins at Ibrox.
Let's keep an eye out for announcements in the coming days and take anything in the transfer rumour mill with a pinch of salt. It will be very easy to just link Rangers with every player going, so I won't be reading too much into anything.
