Morning everyone, Rangers travel to Fir park in what feels like a real nothing game. Everyone knows that Clement's time is up, we can't win the title and we are absolutely shambolic away from home. We absolutely should win today, but we will see if we can actually get the job done.
Everything feels like it's at a very low ebb, there's fingers being pointed at every aspect of the club, rightly so. Patrick Stewart has been in the job two weeks and is already under immense pressure to make a decision on Clements future.
We are at the stage where the only thing that could pull us back from the brink with Clement would be a winning run like we witnessed upon his appointment last season. That run had statistics backing it up, we were actually good in that period. But we've not seen anything close to that level of consistency since March.
For me, even if we'd scraped another victory at St Mirren. I'd have said we were close to the end with Clement. Abandoning the only system that's got results in the league to then immediately lose is a sign that he doesn't know what way he can steer this ship. He's certainly not steering it away from the giant iceberg we are heading towards.
I'm doing my best not to think about the upcoming Old Firm. I imagine it's going to be a bloodbath, with fans booing at the end and calling for Clement's head. It's a tricky one to navigate for Patrick Stewart, either he sacks Clement now and a new manager (interim or otherwise) has to take his bow against Celtic, or let Clement take the hit on the 2nd and then someone comes in with an even more insurmountable points deficit.
I'd prefer making the decision now as I don't see the point in waiting. But the club were happy to let Gio take the hit in the Champions league before sacking him. Although maybe some poor interim coach getting his confidence destroyed in the Old Firm wouldn't be ideal.
Lineup wise, who cares? They're all terrible. In all seriousness Clement has to be thinking of going back to the 442 and sending it. A comfortable win with a few goals would give him a shred of credit in the eyes of the fans.
That's all from me though, have a good day, and do your best to enjoy the game.
