Morning all, will be a shorter preview this morning as I'm actually writing it on a train in Italy. I don't think I'll be able to watch the game so tomorrow will see the debut of another guest writer, you'll have to wait and see who it is.
Let's get the main thing out the way, I'm having a great time and it's currently 22°c and sunny, thanks for taking an interest.
The other news is that we are playing at Ibrox for the first time this season. Alot has been made of the "Hampden factor" and how it's affected us on the pitch. I don't think we can blame the level of performance entirely on that, but I was at the Kyiv game and it's no Ibrox, that's for sure. So let's hope we win today's quarter final to get our chance to play at Hampden in the semi, I'm missing it already.
The focus in the press conference from Phil and Tom Lawrence is playing at Ibrox and the difference it will make to the team. It's easy to be flippant about it but we've all seen the effect a packed Ibrox can have on the teams performance.
There's no real news on the injury front, I hope we see a start from Cortes and Bajrami in a vein to get them to the level of familiarity with the rest of the team that Clement is looking for. Aside from that I'm not expecting too much on the rotation front, even with a Europa league game in mind this week.
I imagine retaining the league cup will be high on Phil's priority list given the prospect of a league title is looking unlikely, to say the least.
The hope has to be that we put the tie to bed early with a positive performance and can rest some key players ahead of our European commitments. Maybe give Tav a half off if we are 3 up at the break, yeah I know, I'm dreaming big again.
That's all for today, those going to the game stay safe and enjoy, hopefully this is the start of a real uptick in form and performance.
