First "home" game of the season awaits for Rangers today. We take on Motherwell at Hampden, I think we should feel very confident against a side missing key players and low on confidence currently.

But this is Rangers, so you never know. There were some small signs of improvement on Tuesday but I wasn't as blown away by what I saw as some were. But I think I have to feel like we will get the win, surely?

In terms of line-up we should hope to see Propper in for Souttar, but Phil has loved to keep us guessing on that front so who knows. Propper did the press conference so that is a good sign.

On what he had to say, nothing too interesting in my opinion. He is very excited to be at Rangers and knew he wanted to be here from the moment we made contact, that is always nice, but not sure what else he could really say. He said he spoke to Dessers and Lammers about coming here, not sure what Lammers said to him, but clearly Dessers really sold the Rangers project.

Phil brought up the fact that Cerny has only had 6 training sessions, so don't expect to see him starting anytime soon. I think that's fair, I had forgotten he was at the Euros, so his pre-season has been disrupted. I am excited to see more of him though, I liked what I saw against Hearts and then he followed it up with a great assist on Tuesday. We will see what he can do when is ready to start, but hopefully he gets an extended cameo with the game in the bag (not sure where that confidence has come from).

He mentioned Jefte and his positive impact the other night, that suggests he might start today, which I would be very much for. Until we sign someone else Jefte has shown he's our best option there with Cortes injured.

Cantwell is also back in first team training, that was a bit of a surprise, given the strong links to Trabzonspor the other day. But at the end of the day if no offer comes in for Cantwell, that's one of our highest earners in the B team for half a season. So maybe he and Phil can see that a temporary truce is better for all parties. I am sick of seeing Tom Lawrence play 90 minutes so if Todd is the only person that Phil sees coming on for him, roll out the red carpet.

For some transfer news we were linked with Bobby Clark of Liverpool. He's a talented young midfielder and obviously at 19 there's real value for the future there. But I find it unlikely he would be within our budget for a permanent transfer, especially if they have already rejected 5m for him. We should be targeting guys in that age bracket that we won't be spending half the transfer kitty on.

Hopefully we can get the victory today and get our season up and running. I don't know how much of the game I will get to see, so I'm going to get a full match replay by tomorrow, and I also have an on-the-scene reporter who will hopefully fill in any gaps.
