So the transfer deadline has come and gone, and with an ominous trip to Celtic park awaiting on Sunday, let's have a look at our business this summer.

All fees taken from Transfermarkt and in euros.

Outgoings

Sam Lammers

To: FC Twente

Fee: 2m

What a disappointing signing Sam Lammers proved to be for Rangers. Beale flew out to Italy personally to convince him to join the Gers. He looked promising in pre-season as he helped himself to a few goals and assists. But once the season started, he never quite looked right.

He wasn't the only one to struggle under Beale last season, but even after a reasonable start under Clement and a truly world class goal at Dundee he faded once again.

Following his very productive loan spell at FC Utrecht for the second half of last season, I think this was a good fee to get back for him. He was bought without a clear plan in mind, never deployed as a number 9 and didn't leave much of an impression at Rangers.

Transfer Rating: 9/10

Connor Goldson

To: Aris Limassol

Fee: Undisclosed (reported as about 1.7m)

When Steven Gerrard became Rangers manager back in 2018, the squad was bare and a lot of signings were needed for Rangers to be competitive. One of these was Connor Goldson from Brighton. A centre back from a premier league club really signalled the ambition from Rangers (could do with some of that now).

He was a stalwart from then on, 309 appearances for Rangers, all 3 domestic trophies won and a run to the Europa League final.

For me, he was never the same after that injury sustained in the champions league at home to Liverpool. He had never really been injured before then, and since he's had a few injuries here and there. At times last season he looked finished physically, so I think this would a good time for him to go. The fee we got wasn't too bad either.

Transfer Rating: 8/10

Scott Wright

To: Birmingham City

Fee: 360k

Scott Wright was signed as a squad option during the 55 season for a cheap fee. He was often called upon to play more than most of us felt was necessary, but this wasn't his fault.

I was speaking to a friend the other day, and I remarked that Wright must have a tremendous attitude in training because 3 new managers have came in and made use of him immediately.

Even with his limitations, he made some memorable contributions. We all remember his goals at Hampden, including one in a cup final.

I was keen to bash Wright for his performances this season, but I wish him well and he's earned us a little bit of extra cash and freed up a place in the squad.

Transfer Rating: 9/10

Todd Cantwell

To: Blackburn Rovers

Fee: 590k

Signed from Norwich for free in January during Beale's first season. Cantwell made an impact and added creativity to a limited squad. He never seemed to hide in the big games and looked like he would be an important part of any rebuild.

However something changed towards the end of last season, his attitude dipped and he didn't seem to gel with Clement. This culminated in his substitution during the Scottish Cup final.

This summer he refused to train and was "injured". The writing was on the wall at that point I'm afraid. He leaves earning us a profit although less than most imagined given his early impact.

He's off to Lancashire and hopefully they enjoy his social media posts at Ewood Park.

Transfer Rating: 6.5/10

Robby McCrorie

To: Kilmarnock FC

Fee: Undisclosed (Reported as 500k)

Not a huge deal to say about this one. McCrorie played well whenever called upon by Rangers, but given he wasn't really trusted for any cup games last season, he needed a move.

All the best to him at Kilmarnock, we'll always have those back to back clean sheets against Celtic and Alashkert.

Transfer Rating: 5/10

Jose Cifuentes

To: Aris Thessalonika

Fee: Loan with option to buy of about 3-4m

Maybe one of the poster boys of the Beale summer (not as popular as Brat summer it turns out), we were sold this all-action midfielder who was gonna come in like Indiana Jones to rescue our midfield, with a whip in one hand and a skinny latte in the other.

But that was not what transpired, we were lucky if he was as all-action as Harrison Ford present-day. Cifuentes never settled and struggled with the weather, so we have been shipping him off to various warm climates to try get him to leave. Brazil first, now Greece, hopefully they activate the option and he enjoys the weather.

In all seriousness if they take this deal I'd say it's a very good deal.

Transfer Rating: 10/10 (if they activate the option)

Ben Davies

To: Birmingham City

Fee: Loan

Saved the best outgoing for last. Ben Ben Ben, what are we gonna do with you. Signed as one of the secondary options in Gio's first summer as Rangers boss, was never truly up to the standards of what we needed to kick on.

Unfortunately, we've had to call him repeatedly across the last two seasons, with predictable results. His fee looks eye watering given his contribution. So hopefully he smashes it in League One and someone wants to give us money for him in the summer.

Transfer Rating: Don't have to watch Ben Davies play for Rangers this season/10

Incomings:

Jefte

Signed from: APOEL Nicosia

Fee: Free transfer

It seems like so much water has passed under the bridge since Jefte was announced for Rangers that it already feels like he's spent a full season here. Alas, he was only an early summer arrival to replace Borna's spot in the squad. And he's been a much needed improvement.

He had some promising performances in pre-season, but he's followed them up with some great showings against St Johnstone and Ross County following an injury to Ridvan. The less said about his red card against Kyiv the better, not his fault, but let's just not dwell on it.

Cheating a bit given how many games he's played, but I am very happy with this deal and it should be the sort of move we make more often.

Transfer rating: 8/10

Connor Barron

Signed from: Aberdeen

Fee: Compensation fee (pending tribunal)

This felt like a real no-brainer signing given his promise for Aberdeen. I was pushing for us to make this move for a while and I'm glad we got it over the line. Especially given he's been one of our best players this season.

Hopefully he continues to perform and improve. But this already looks like one of our best moves this summer.

Transfer rating: 9/10

Liam Kelly

Signed from: Motherwell

Fee: Free

The first "meh" signing of the summer. We needed a backup keeper given McCrorie's departure, Kelly was experienced and available for free. Looked fine in pre-season. Wasn't trusted in the league cup against St Johnstone, something to keep an eye on.

I think he will do a decent job when called upon.

Transfer rating: 6/10

Clinton Nsiala

Signed from: AC Milan

Fee: Free

This is definitely a signing for the future, a left-sided central defender who has very little senior experience. He was okay in pre-season when he played, but given the pressure at Rangers, I don't think we will see alot of him this season. A low-risk, high-reward type youth signing.

Transfer rating: 5/10

Oscar Cortes

Signed from: RC Lens

Fee: Loan with obligation to buy (reported as 3m)

Cortes had a good impact in his limited minutes for Rangers last season. Signed in January on a straight loan from RC Lens, the young Colombian dazzled, especially against Hearts in a 5-0 victory, before sustaining a season-ending hamstring injury at Rugby Park.

I liked what we saw of him last season, he looked decent in pre-season. And then he sustained a bad injury against Hearts and he's out for the moment. I imagine he will return after this international break, but hopefully it's not something that will become a theme of his time at Rangers.

Transfer rating: 7/10

Vaclav Cerny

Signed from: Wolfsburg

Fee: Loan

Signed when we were looking very very short on wide options. The Czech winger has shown that he's capable of having a real impact for Rangers this season. His brilliant finish against Motherwell and his cross for Dessers' equaliser away to Kyiv are hopefully a sign of what's to come.

Cerny is someone who knows where the goal is, and he's very keen to get in behind and get the ball forward. I expect he will become someone we rely on for goals from wide areas this season.

The only disappointing thing here is the lack of a buy option.

Transfer rating: 8/10

Neranysho Kasanwirjo

Signed from: Feyenoord

Fee: Loan

One of the a pair of deadline day signings completed by Rangers yesterday. A centre-back who spent last season mostly playing right back on-loan at Rapid Wien.

I haven't seen him play, but from what I've read he seems like he could be a very handy option at the back. Given Souttar's shaky form this season, I look forward to seeing what Kasanwirjo can bring to our backline.

He's the right profile in terms of signing and hopefully he clears the bar of being better than Ben Davies.

Transfer rating: 7/10

Hamza Igamane

Signed from: FAR Rabat

Fee: 2.36m

The promising young Moroccan signed off the back of a good season in African football. He's become a bit of a mystery figure given he's not been ready for the first team and has been training separately, so much so that we haven't seen him at all yet.

I don't know how good he is, given we've seen nothing of him at Rangers yet. But unfortunately for him, given the fee spent on him and how long it has taken him to make an appearance, I imagine fans won't be happy unless he's the second coming of Thierry Henry.

It will be a lot of pressure for the young man, hopefully he can meet those expectations.

Transfer rating: 6/10

Robin Propper

Signed from: FC Twente

Fee: 3.2m

We needed a new centre back, and Propper arrived, the captain of FC Twente and experienced at the age of 30. Comfortable on either side, capable with the ball at his feet.

Exactly the profile Rangers needed, he's taken one or two games to settle, but so far he looks comfortable fighting for the ball high up the pitch. Compared to the frustration you felt at times watching Souttar and Goldson back off from any kind of attack. He's been a breath of fresh air, I think once he's settled he will be a real lynchpin at the back with potential to form a great partnership with our other inclusion.

Transfer rating: 8/10

Nedim Bajrami

Signed from: Sassuolo FC

Fee: 4m

Just when it looked like we'd made all our moves on deadline day, this rumour emerged. Initially it was meant to be a loan with option/obligation, then it changed to a permanent signing.

This felt like a real statement of intent, we needed a number 10 and we got one, not a loan, but someone we can maybe look at building a team around. I liked him alot at the Euros in the summer, I like watching Sassuolo in Serie A and he's always stood out. He's someone that is capable technically but likes to get stuck in (no idea if the stats back that up, but that's what I've seen).

Honestly I never would have thought he's the kind of signing available to Rangers, so I am very excited to see him.

Transfer rating: 10/10
